Advantages Of Using Tiles In Front Of The Fireplace

A fireplace is the center of every room where it is, drawing the attention of persons entering there. Fireplaces are usually built in living-rooms where all the family gathers at a certain point of the day. It has the power to remind us of older days when people entered their homes after working all day long, had dinner and then spent the evening in the chimney light, around the warm fire, telling stories or sharing the events they had during the day.
The ancient fireplaces were made of rocks or bricks. But charming as they may seem for the lovers of classical values, these materials don't fit anymore most of the houses. It became a tradition to surround the chimney with tiles of the colors or sizes which are more appropriate for the place. There are several reasons to do that.
The first one is that tiles give a modern aspect. Depending on their color they can adapt to various environments like a house in the countryside or an extremely elegant home in the city. The mantelpiece can be used to display decorating objects like vases, statuettes, clocks or candelabra. While the surrounding tiles have mostly aesthetic purposes, using tiles in front of the fireplace has other advantages.
One of them is that even if you have a grate or a glass wall in front of the chimney you can still be careful with not allowing the fire to spread. You wouldn't stay very calm if you had wooden floors. But even when you do, you can create an isle of safety stretching around half a meter in front of the fireplace. Another one is to keep a few pieces of firewood on that portion without fearing that it can leave dust on your carpet or floors. The beautiful limestone tiles in front of your chimney could be the favorite place to sleep for your cat or your dog.
There is something close to magical to hearing the wood cracking burnt by the cheerful flames. That is why having a fireplace in your home is an interior design trend which never grows old. Instead it is upgraded with features which make the heat travel throughout the entire house and with modern materials.
The beige and honey limestone tiles are wonderful, extremely practical and they also offer the warm feeling that almost all homeowners are looking for.
